大型的球類比賽（如足球）進入決賽後要採淘汰賽呀？！

早就有這個疑問了

棒球、籃球在各洲預賽時都是巡迴賽

為何一進入奧運或世界盃

就要採淘汰賽了

如本屆奧運

日本原是奪冠的大熱門

竟然在四強賽輸了澳洲（台灣還以3:0打敗澳洲呢！

）只能去參加季軍賽。

為何不要繼續採巡迴賽呢？這樣實力是多少比較確實！

如職棒或職籃這樣。

因為最近的世足賽

我不得不又想這樣的問題

這些國家隊還用抽籤分A-H組

這樣怎能保證各組的實力相當

為何不32國隊來個大巡迴賽

或是用像「教育用的常態偏班」的方式分成2-4大組的巡迴賽

這樣得來的冠軍應該比較準吧？！

進入16強之後

再繼續採巡迴賽

就像職業聯賽一樣

這不是挺好的嗎？請告訴我一個讓我「啞口無言」的理由

It will take too long for World Cup if it still use group or round-robin format in the stage of 16. Actually in 1978

World Cup in Argentina

when there was only 16 nations in the Finals

group format was used until semifinals. In 1982

when it was first to have 24 teams

the first stage had 6 groups of 4 teams in each group and then the round of 12 have 4 group of 3 teams in each group. The elimination (or knock out) format started in quarter-final (stage of 8 teams). However

group format gave chance to some teams to manipulate the result to eliminate some other teams. Germany (formerly West Germany) was the best to manipulate the result to avoid strong opponents. In 1982

in the first stage they lost to Algeria in their first game. But they beat Chile 4:1. Algeria only managed to beat Chile 3:2. However

Algeria lost to Austria 0:2. Austria beat Chile 1:0. In the last game
